A review of Rhodesway Swimming Pool by J Bairstow written on Monday 11th of April 2011
As part of the current financial review Bradford Council are under taking, it has come to light the Rhodesway Swimming Pool has been identified as part of their cost saving exercise. Rhodesway Pool was recently refurbished and is in very good condition, both structurally and aesthetically. There are a number of groups that use this pool on a weekly basis from Aqua Aerobic sessions, Primary Schools, Council run swimming lessons, City of Bradford Swimming Club and Bradford Dolphins Swimming Club who have been based at the pool for the past 35 years!!!. If the closure goes ahead, people wanting to use the pool would either have to travel to Queensbury, Shipley or Bingley where the opening hours are being reduced. The Primary Schools that currently use this pool would again need to travel to AN Other pool, which in turn will increases travel time and money associated with coach travel - a cash burden that Bradford Council are trying to reduce. The Pool is key in providing children the opportunity to learn a life skill and also play a key part in the Community.
