Original contact civil, order for fire placed. Some time after message received that fire I wanted not available, alternative offered and accepted. All well so far. From then on less happy. Firm apparently refuses to keep or even make appointments, prefers to let OAP with MS sit around for hours hoping workmen might appear. When they did arrive gas was turned off, old fire removed but new one not attached so OAP with MS had to fetch electric heater from another room for use during weekend evenings. Following Tuesday gas fire fitted, sadly seems no more efficient than old one which was 21 years old. Remote control seemed a good idea for disabled owner but too small and not easy to use. No easy way to adjust flames manually.
Final insult was refusal by Gas Centre to take cardboard box containing old fire away, told me to dispose of it myself. I have no transport and no offspring or slaves willing to fetch and carry for me, but session on internet led to arrangement with Bradford firm to take old fire away at no cost.
My opinion of Gas Centre service is very low indeed. Man who answered my first phone call was charming, as was young man who fitted the fire. Otherwise the experience was bitterly disappointing, especially when compared with helpful and friendly purchase of previous gas fire purchased from Black Dyke Mills gas board depot and showroom.
I will not recommend gas centre to anybody in similar position to mine..
